Robert Steele, MD, MBA has extensive work experience in the healthcare industry. Robert currently serves as the Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer at Children’s Mercy Kansas City, where they oversee strategy, partnerships, business development, and government affairs. Prior to this role, they were the President of the Arkansas Children’s Care Network, where they established and operated the nation’s first statewide pediatric Clinically Integrated Network. Robert also served as the President of the Arkansas Children’s Medical Group, where they started the first medical group associated with Arkansas Children’s and led its operational growth.

Before joining Arkansas Children’s, Dr. Steele held various leadership positions at Mercy Springfield Communities and Arkansas Children’s, including President. Robert also served as the Chair of the Health Plans Board at Mercy and the Senior Vice President of Market Growth and Development. In these roles, they led strategic planning, physician engagement, and market growth initiatives. Dr. Steele has also worked as a Pediatrician at Mercy and as a Clinical Faculty member at Missouri State University.

Earlier in their career, Dr. Steele gained experience as the Chief Resident at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, where they coordinated the teaching and scheduling of pediatric residents and played a role in the hospital’s recognition as a top children’s hospital in the United States.

Robert Steele, MD, MBA has a B.S. in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which they obtained from 1987 to 1989. Robert pursued their medical degree (M.D.) at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine from 1989 to 1993. Later, from 2010 to 2013, they completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the Isenberg School of Management, UMass Amherst. Robert also attended Little Rock Central High from 1983 to 1985, but no degree or field of study is specified for this period.
