John Travis is a seasoned consultant specializing in the convergence of health information technology (HIT) and federal regulations. With a wealth of expertise, he advises on how HIT can facilitate provider compliance with regulatory mandates from key agencies within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), including CMS, ONC, OIG, HHS/OCR, and SAMHSA.

Formerly overseeing Oracle Cerner’s Product Regulatory Strategy team, John spearheaded efforts to ensure compliance with federal regulations governing the use of HIT. He successfully led the certification of Oracle Cerner’s EHR products under ONC’s HIT certification program, including updates mandated by the 21st Century Cures Act.

John’s strategic acumen extends to assessing and addressing gaps in federal interoperability requirements for HIT, electronic prescribing, health information exchange standards, patient access to health information, and public health reporting. He conducted comprehensive gap assessments to ensure compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for products marketed in the European Union.

Additionally, John played a pivotal role in steering product management efforts for regulatory compliance in Cerner’s revenue cycle and clinical products. He provided expert guidance on leveraging product features to enable client compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation and The Joint Commission’s accreditation standards.
